There’s an Imposter Among us!
It’s game time! Grab your yarn and let’s play a game of Among Us. In Among Us, players are crewmates on a spaceship. They run around completing tasks while trying to figure out who the imposter shapeshifter is that is trying to sabotage the ship and ultimately kill them.
This blanket is for HDawg. She’s a little sus. (“Sus” is game slang for suspicious.) Is it a bad thing that my daughter is so good at lying during this game? As you crochet this blanket, don’t be suspicious, stay away from vents and watch out for the imposter!
Task 1: Swipe Card.
This afghan was super fun to crochet. Even though you’re crocheting the same crewmember shape over and over, adding each new color kept it fresh. I chose to work this blanket in three panels and sew them together. This keeps the portion you work on manageable.
This is a large afghan and easily covers a twin bed with drape on the sides. (See the photo above.)
Dimensions: 58 inches wide X 80 inches long
The Among Us C2C Crochet Afghan
As I mentioned, I designed this fun afghan with my daughter HDawg in mind. She came home from her first semester at Brigham Young University raving about Among Us, a popular online video game, and how much fun she had playing it with her friend group.
While she served a mission for our church in Pocatello, Idaho I crocheted it for her.
This new pattern will feature 3 FREE Among Us Afghan panels!
- Among Us C2C Crochet Afghan Panel 1 (teal, red, purple)
- Among Us C2C Crochet Afghan Panel 2 (orange, blue, green)
- Among Us C2C Crochet Afghan Panel 3 (pink, yellow, brown)
At first glance the panels look the same, (other than the crewmates’ colors) but they’re actually a little different. There are different numbers of empty blue rows on the top and bottom of each panel. Because of the scale of the Among Us crew members, I wanted 5 plain blue rows around the edge of the blanket. I did not however want a total of 10 blue rows in between rows 1 and 2 or in between rows 2 and 3.
One panel will be released each week for the next 3 weeks. Then, we’ll wrap things up with Among Us C2C Crochet Afghan—Joining and Edging.
Among Us Afghan Crochet Method
I used the standard Corner to Corner (C2C) crochet technique for this afghan. I crochet with worsted weight yarn and I use an H hook. To brush up on C2C crochet, click over to my Crochet Videos page.
Among Us C2C Crochet Afghan Materials and Instructions
Materials are for the 3 panel afghan and a simple puff stitch border.
IMPORTANT: I weighed all my yarn before and after crocheting to give you the best approximation for the amount used. Please remember, differences in stitching tension and the brand of yarn selected will yield different results.
I used Loops and Threads Impeccable Yarn. It’s easy to get at my local Michaels and and comes in a lot of bright colors. If you prefer your crewmates in different colors to the ones I’ve selected, by all means switch things up and customize your blanket!
I definitely recommend buying the yarn for this project online. Especially the light blue. Local stores rarely carry enough stock in the same dye lot to be able to make this blanket. You do not want the light blue to be slightly off from skein to skein. When you purchase online, all the skeins you order for one color will be from the same dye lot. I used 8 skeins of the BLUE HAZE and they all match perfectly.
