I love Mexican food, I love parties, and I love bright colors! What could be more natural, then, than to create a bright Mexican taco fiesta inspired blanket? The Fiesta! C2C Crochet Afghan is the result. I wish I could say that I would have all the panel patterns created and up for you to finish this blanket by Cinco de Mayo, but life intervened.

I HAVE A DAUGHTER GETTING MARRIED!

Yep. And she’s getting married NEXT MONTH! Needless to say, I’ve only been working part-time instead of full-time lately and focusing on wedding details the other half of the time. I’m super excited for J$ and I love to see her sooo happy!

But, on to the afghan!

This Fiesta! Afghan features 6 panels:

One panel will be released each week. Once we’ve finished all the panels, we’ll finish things off with a fun Mexican flag-colored moss stitch border in Fiesta! C2C Crochet Afghan—Joining and Edging.

Each panel measures about 53 inches wide when stitched at the same gauge I used. The height of each panel will vary based on the number of squares in it. The tallest panels (the chile peppers and barrel cacti) measure approximately 17.5 inches tall.

Blanket dimensions: 56 inches wide x 82 inches long

As you can see, it is a very large blanket, but can easily be customized. Don’t like Avocados? Leave off that panel. Don’t want to crochet the intricate Papel Picado? Don’t crochet them. I just couldn’t leave any of these panels off and I wish I could have included more!

C2C Crochet Method

I used the standard Corner to Corner (C2C) crochet technique for this afghan.  I crochet with worsted weight yarn and I use an H hook.  To brush up on C2C crochet, click over to my Crochet Videos page.

IMPORTANT: I weighed all my yarn before and after crocheting to give you the best approximation for the amount used.  Please remember, differences in stitching tension, chosen blocks, the number of blocks crocheted, and the brand of yarn selected will yield different results.
