Christmas Morning Stockings
My parents were not big on getting up as early as we children wanted to get up on Christmas morning. We were always so excited that we could hardly sleep on Christmas Eve. Sometimes, we would even set our alarms for 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning so we could see what Santa brought. Crazy right? I like my sleep now! My parents tried to get us to stay in bed until at least the decent hour of 7:00 AM, but it hardly ever worked. We couldn’t open presents before the whole family was dressed and had breakfasted, but we could look in our stockings and open any small presents in it.
The Telluride Crochet Christmas Stocking is the third in my new 2002 Christmas stocking series. This stocking uses a modified basketweave stitch from front and back post treble crochet to create its sturdy texture.

If you’re a Colorado native, you’ve probably guessed that I live in Colorado myself. And you’d be right. Not native-born, but native at heart. I’ve named each of these fun Christmas stocking patterns for a mountain town here in Colorado.
I love living in Colorado with its pristine mountain lakes and gorgeous mountain valleys. To celebrate this beautiful state, I chose to name this year’s series of crochet Christmas stockings for some of its mountain towns: Vail, Silverthorne, Aspen, Telluride. Telluride is the only one of the four that I haven’t visited yet. It’s much further west than the others, but it’s on my bucket list.
I’m looking forward to adding to my collection of stocking patterns another year. Maybe I’ll add the Durango or the Salida or the Evergreen. Fortunately, there are so many mountain towns in this beautiful state, I shouldn’t run out of potential names anytime soon!
