Check Your Gauge
I use the same hook for all my afghan patterns, resulting in the same gauge. I use an H hook and crochet rather tight. As you can see in the image below, a 6 X 6 block (6 pixels by 6 pixels in a graph) stitches up to be 4.25 inches X 4.25 inches.
The specific gauge is not particularly important for C2C afghans. It is far more important to be consistent as you crochet. HOWEVER, if your gauge is not the same, your afghan will be a different size and you will need more or less yarn than listed in each pattern.
To achieve the same results as the sample afghans on Swish and Stitch, change your crochet hook if needed—larger or smaller—until your gauge is the same as shown above.
A 25 X 25 square block will be approximately 17.5 inches.
A 3 X 3 block afghan with no sashing or borders will be approximately 52.5 inches.
This C2C Emoji Afghan is 55 inches including the border.
