ephemeral christmas deer winter wonderland Afghan
I hope you’re looking at this header photograph of my new Winter Wonderland C2C Crochet Afghan and getting chills from it! Isn’t it incredible?!
A couple of years ago I decided that it was finally time to upgrade to a prelit Christmas tree. After going to several stores, my husband and I decided to try one more and went to Home Depot. I was absolutely wowed by their 9-foot Sparkling Amelia Frosted Pine Artificial Christmas Tree. The photos on their website don’t do this tree justice. You have to see it in person. It is stunning!
For years, I had been wanting a silver and white decorated tree, so with the new tree, I bought new decorations. Then, it snowballed into a new tablescape centered around two beautiful silver deer figures that I found at Hobbly Lobby. You can see the deer in the image below.
This beautiful Winter Wonderland Afghan is the result of another collaboration with Lion Brand. The sample blanket was stitched in Vanna’s Choice yarn in WHITE, PALE GREY, SILVER GREY, and CHARCOAL GREY. Order this as a kit from the Lion Brand website. Kits are a great deal, with all the yarn and the pattern for one low price!

A closeup of the border. This border makes me giddy! It is just so right for this blanket! I always add a border to my blankets. I just think they look more “finished” with even a small border. For this afghan, I wanted an edging that fit the snowy forest theme. I created this “Snow and Ice Border” and am so pleased with what it adds to the blanket. It makes me think of snowflakes and icicle spikes.
And a couple final photos just for fun.
More Christmas afghans you might enjoy!
I cannot wait to pull everything together this year. Silver and white tree, silver and white tablescape, silver and white tree skirt, silver and white afghan.
Don’t get me wrong. I still love the traditional reds and greens of Christmas. I use them extensively in my family room and other parts of the house. But now that my husband and I are empty nesters, I wanted a “grown-up” tree in my living room. The silver and white color scheme fit the bill.
Let me know what you think!
