Sad Emoji Instructions

Materials

~ Sad Emoji 25×25 Pixel Graph

~ Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn 3.5 oz skeins in the following colors:

  • Mustard  [252] — 3.1 ounces
  • White  [204] — 2.6 ounces
  • Black  [118] — .9 ounces
  • Colonial Blue [51] — .2 ounces

~ Size H Crochet Hook or hook needed to achieve gauge (see Gauge for C2C Afghans)

~ Tapestry Needle

Crochet the square starting from the bottom right corner of the chart.  Row-by-row written instructions are below.

block in progress

After you finish crocheting the block, crochet one row of single crochet in WHITE around the entire block.  I crochet 5 single crochet stitches for every two squares or pixels on the chart.  If I try to do more than that, my border tends to end up wavy from too many stitches.  For 25×25 pixel graphs I crochet 63 SC stitches on each side + an extra stitch in each corner.  I do recommend counting the stitches and having the same number on each side—being consistent will make it much easier to sew the blocks together at the end.

Enjoy!

    Sad Emoji, Row 23.
there is something wrong. you write W3,B1,Y4,B1,Y4…
    which should be W3,B1,Y2,B3,Y4…

can I get something for free, cause I got an error there
    ✌️
    love your work

it’s not like the instructions are wrong, but the picture. I’ve entered row 25, just realized. the picture is not symmetrical, but if you follow the instructions it will definitely be symmetrical.

    I was following the picture
now I’m sad the results are not good.

You are right that the mouth on the Sad Emoji is not symmetrical. I chose to do this to make room for the teardrop. The chart matches the photo of my stitched block which is the same one I used in my finished afghan. You are always welcome to alter my pattern to fit your own taste.
