The Fellowship of the Ring Afghan — Boromir
Boromir—son of Denethor II, Steward of Gondor—like many others, joins the Fellowship during the Council of Rivendell. He is skilled in the arts of warfare and beloved by the people of Gondor. He is also looked up to by his brother Faramir.
Boromir is tempted by the power of the One Ring. Though his original desire to possess the One Ring is altruistic (to help his people), he allows the desire to become an obsession. Though he had sworn to protect Frodo, Boromir becomes violent and tries to take the ring from him. Frodo escapes from Boromir by using the One Ring to become invisible.
Boromir comes to himself and feels remorse for his attack on Frodo. He dies with honor as he stands between Merry and Pippin and a host of Uruk-hai.
Gimli, though somewhat irascible by nature, is also loyal and staunch. He is the fifth block in The Fellowship of the Ring C2C Crochet Afghan.

Crochet the square starting from the bottom right corner of the chart. Row-by-row written instructions are below.
After you finish crocheting the block, crochet one row of single crochet in DUSTY GREEN around the entire block. See Adding a Single Crochet Edge around a Finished C2C Block for how I crochet around the edge.
I think Boromir turned out very well – very princely. Every time I watch The Fellowship of the Ring, I think it such a waste that he dies so young. Here’s to commemorating a very flawed, very human hero. See you soon for The Fellowship border panel.
Stitch happy!

These are so cute! I can’t wait to make my bf his blanket!
I hope your bf loves it! I made this for my LOTR loving daughter. She has it at college with her and it gets a lot of attention.
These LOTR patterns are fantastic! My daughter is keeping pace with you, making this as a Christmas gift for my husband. ❤️ Do you know when the upper and lower panels might be released? Thank you so much for this project pattern!
I’m so sorry that I’m behind. I meant to write them up last month and then got COVID which set me back. I’ll have them up as soon as I can. Thanks for your daughter’s patience!
I hope you are on the mend and feeling better! ❤️
Oh no! I hope you get to feeling better!!
