The Fellowship of the Ring Afghan — Frodo Baggins

“My dear Frodo! Hobbits really are amazing creatures. You can learn all that there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you.”

The Fellowship of the Ring

Like his uncle Bilbo Baggins before him, Frodo Baggins embarks on an adventure at the urging of Gandalf the Grey. Frodo’s adventure is, perhaps, a little more urgent than Bilbo’s quest, with Black Riders seeking him and the One Ring he carries.

Frodo Baggins is soon joined by three other Hobbits—Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and Peregrin Took. They journey together to the elf home of Rivendell where they join members of other races to form the Fellowship of the Ring. Their purpose? To destroy the One Ring and break Sauron’s power over Middle Earth.

Frodo learns a lot about himself as he and the Fellowship face dangers and circumstances he could not have foreseen. Finally, Frodo and Sam break away from the Fellowship to complete their quest alone.

Frodo Baggins is the second block in The Fellowship of the Ring C2C Crochet Afghan.

Now that we’ve got Frodo, one of the most important members of the Fellowship, it’s time to crochet his loyal companion — Samwise the Brave! Look for Sam in March.
