The Fellowship of the Ring Afghan — Meriadoc (Merry) Brandybuck
Meriadoc Brandybuck is best friends with his cousin Peregrin “Pippin” Took. They loaf together, they get into trouble together, and throughout The Lord of the Rings trilogy, they have many adventures together.
Merry and Pippin join Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee as they leave the Shire, heading toward Bree. They all join with Strider (Aragorn) who helps them safely reach Rivendell where they become members of the Fellowship of the Ring.
Merry and Pippin are only separated from each other because Pippin unwisely looks into the Palantir. Gandalf takes Pippin with him into Gondor and Merry stays with King Theoden. Merry swears fealty to King Theoden and rides into battle with Eowyn, the king’s niece.
While Meriadoc is a cheerful, mischievous hobbit, he is also intelligent and courageous. He is the seventh block in The Fellowship of the Ring C2C Crochet Afghan.

- Dusty Green (light green) — 2.9 ounces
- Honey (tan) — 2.2 ounces
- Beige — 1.8 ounces
- White — .4 ounce
- Mustard (yellow) — .2 ounce
- Scarlet (red) — .1 ounce
- Black — .1 ounce
~ Size H Crochet Hook or hook needed to achieve gauge (see Gauge for C2C Afghans)

Crochet the square starting from the bottom right corner of the chart. Row-by-row written instructions are below.
After you finish crocheting the block, crochet one row of single crochet in DUSTY GREEN around the entire block. See Adding a Single Crochet Edge around a Finished C2C Block for how I crochet around the edge.
