Songbirds in Spring Throw
It is finally spring! I love to hear the birds chirping and see the tulips blooming. Everything is waking up after the winter cold and it’s just a joyful time of year. The Spring Bluebirds Afghan is crocheted in three panels featuring sweet bluebirds singing, eating a worm, and in a family group. The Spring Bluebirds Afghan is stitched in standard C2C crochet (as are most of my other afghans) and edged with a super simple, traditional granny stitch border. It is perfect for snuggling up on cool spring mornings or laying out for a picnic in the sunshine.

A Spring-Time Must Make
The Spring Bluebirds Afghan measures 52 inches X 53.5 inches when crocheted at the gauge suggested in the pattern.
The pattern includes a printable chart and row-by-row instructions. It also includes border instructions and approximate yarn requirements. Please remember that if you choose different yarn than suggested or crochet at a different gauge, the yarn estimates will be off.

And here is a closeup of the border. The border is stitched using the traditional granny stitch in three different colors. A final row of single crochet and chain stitches adds a little texture to the edge.

I feel like every time I finish an afghan I say how much I enjoyed making it. But it’s always true and this one was no different. The birds are so cute! They were a breath of fresh air on all the dark cold days that I stitched it.
