“Albus Dumbledore had gotten to his feet. He was beaming at the students, his arms opened wide, as if nothing could have pleased him more than to see them all there.
“‘Welcome!’ he said. ‘Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!’
“. . . ‘Is he—a bit mad?’ [Harry] asked Percy uncertainly.
“‘Mad?’ said Percy airily. ‘He’s a genius! Best wizard in the world! But he is a bit mad, yes.'”
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
To start off our Order of the Phoenix C2C Crochet Afghan, we’ve got Albus Dumbledore. Dumbledore is frequently described as having flowing silver hair and piercing blue eyes. Arguably the most renowned wizard of all time, Albus Dumbledore has a plethora of accomplishments to his credit. To the wizarding community, Dumbledore is known for his work in charms and potions, for his discovery of the 12 uses of dragon blood, and for his work in alchemy with Nicholas Flamel. He had been asked to be Minister of Magic on at least three occasions, each of which he declined.
To Harry Potter, Professor Dumbledore is not only the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but an amiable and admirable mentor. Dumbledore gently guides Harry as Harry explores magic and faces his fiercest enemy time and time again.
