“Mr. Weasley was slumped in a kitchen chair with his glasses off and his eyes closed. He was a thin man, going bald, but the little hair he had was as red as any of his children’s.”

Okay, so Arthur Weasley is not going bald in this block for the Order of the Phoenix C2C Crochet Afghan. I based this 5th block on Arthur from the movie adaptations, who is clearly not balding. Change him up if you wish to make him more authentic. Definitely send me pic if you do!

You gotta love Arthur Weasley! To others, Arthur Weasley is the somewhat unremarkable head of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. He appears unambitious because he is unwilling to compromise his values to move up in the Ministry of Magic. He values all life, magical and nonmagical, and his quirky obsession with Muggle culture is so endearing!

To Harry Potter, Arthur Weasley is the father of his best friend Ron and one of the stand-in father figures in his life. Arthur may be lax in disciplining his children, letting his sons get away with minor indiscretions as long as he can plead ignorance, but he clearly values his family above money, ambition, and other visible successes. Arthur welcomes Harry into his family as first Ron’s friend and later as Ginny’s boyfriend.

Crochet the square starting from the bottom right corner of the chart.  Row-by-row written instructions are below.

After you finish crocheting the block, crochet one row of single crochet in DUSTY PURPLE around the entire block.  See Adding a Single Crochet Edge around a Finished C2C Block for how I crochet around the edge.

I think this Arthur Weasley block is rather handsome. I chose to put him next to his sweetheart because they’re just so right together. Mix it up if you prefer to separate the redheads. See you next week for Rubeus Hagrid!
