“‘Why are we all standing in the dark?’ said a third voice this one completely unfamiliar, a woman’s. ‘Lumos.’

” . . . ‘Oooh, he looks just like I thought he would,’ said the witch who was holding her lit wand aloft. She looked the youngest there; she had a pale heart-shaped face, dark twinkling eyes, and short spiky hair that was a violent shade of violet. ‘Wotcher, Harry!'”

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Nymphadora Tonks is definitely one of the colorful characters in the magical world. Born from a pure-blood witch and Muggle father, Tonks (as she prefers to be known) is a Metamorphmagus. She can change her appearance at will and is frequently seen with either bubble-gum pink or violet hair. Though she is not very stealthy and almost failed on Stealth and Tracking during training, Nymphadora Tonks is an Auror — a dark wizard catcher. We can infer that she is highly trained, talented, and intelligent since few wizards are accepted into and complete Auror training.

Nymphadora Tonks is one of the younger members of the Order of the Phoenix. She is always energetic and willing to help. She serves on guard duty at the Ministry of Magic, escorts Harry Potter to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix and later to Hogwarts, and frequently stops by and helps clean number twelve, Grimmauld Place. Tonks falls for and marries Remus Lupin, and in a tragic, bittersweet end, they die together in the Battle of Hogwarts.

This Nymphadora Tonks block is super fun to stitch with her iconic bubble-gum pink hair. There’s something about pink yarn that just makes it cheerful to work with. See you next week for Tonks’s mentor Alastor (Mad-Eye) Moody!
