Harry Potter Gryffindors Afghan—Lavender Brown Block

“Lavender kept sidling up to Harry to discuss Ron, which Harry found almost more wearing than McLaggen’s Quidditch lectures. At first, Lavender had been very annoyed that nobody had thought to tell her that Ron was in the hospital wing—“I mean, I am his girlfriend!”—but unfortunately she had now decided to forgive Harry this lapse of memory and was keen to have lots of in-depth chats with him about Ron’s feelings, a most undormfortable experience that Harry would have happily forgone.”

Much like her best friend Parvati Patil, Lavender Brown is a background character in the Harry Potter book series. Though she comes across as a somewhat silly girl, in their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Lavender is the first student sorted into Gryffindor House. Lavender comes to the foreground in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when she begins dating Ron Weasley. Lavender commandeers Ron’s time as much as possible which becomes trying to both Parvati and Harry Potter.

Lavender is one of the few students who enjoys Divination and comes to admire the Divination teacher, Professor Trelawney. Trelawney predicts that something Lavender is dreading will take place on the 16th of October. When Lavender learns on October 16th that her pet rabbit has been killed, she begins to trust Trelawney’s predictions.

Though it seems that Lavender initially believes the Ministry of Magic’s negative propaganda about Harry in their fifth year at Hogwarts, she obviously changes her mind about him and is one of the first to join Dumbledore’s Army. When Voldemort gives Severus Snape and other Death Eaters control over Hogwarts, Lavender is one of the rebellious students forced into hiding. She courageously fights in the Battle of Hogwarts and is ultimately savaged by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback.
